Dussehra celebrates the triumph of good over evil. On this auspicious occasion, the Karnataka State Dental Council (KSDC) extends its warmest wishes to all dental professionals for continued success, professional excellence, and new beginnings. The KSDC has been receiving numerous complaints regarding clinics being established and dentistry being practised by individuals who are not qualified or registered dental professionals. Such unethical and unauthorised practices pose a serious threat to patient safety and undermine the integrity of our profession. The Council is committed to addressing this issue firmly and taking appropriate measures to prevent such practices. As part of this initiative, the Karnataka State Dental Council proposes to make the registration of every dental clinic in Karnataka compulsory. The registration process will require details such as the name and address of the clinic, the name of the clinic owner, details of the doctors working in the clinic, and any additional information required through the prescribed online registration form. To ensure convenience and accessibility, the entire process will be conducted online. Dentists will not be required to visit the Council’s office in person for this purpose. Upon verification of the submitted information, the Council will issue a certificate recognising the registration of the dental clinic. This certificate must be displayed prominently in the clinic’s waiting area. Our Shared Responsibility Ensuring that dental clinics are operated by appropriately qualified professionals is a collective responsibility. Through this initiative, we aim to protect patients from unauthorised dental practice, uphold ethical standards, and preserve public trust in the dental profession. We urge all dental professionals to extend their cooperation and support in implementing this initiative successfully. All dental clinics are required to complete the registration process within three months of the official notification by visiting the website.
